Coding & Billing for Rural and Community Health: The Basics

Ideal for: Providers, Managers, Coders, Billers (RHC & FQHC staff)

This introductory course is designed for clinical and administrative professionals who work in Rural Health Clinics (RHCs) or Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs) and want to build a solid foundation in documentation, coding, and billing.

Participants will learn:

  • How documentation, coding, and billing relate—but are NOT the same.

  • The roles of CPT, HCPCS-II, and ICD-10-CM and how to access, read, and apply them.

  • The basics of CMS Medicare rules and how they differ from commercial and Medicaid billing.

  • How to avoid common mistakes that affect payment and compliance.

  • How to navigate the unique environment of RHC and FQHC payment systems (AIR/PPS).

This course is best suited for basic and intermediate learners who are preparing for more advanced training, such as the full ArchProCoding Bootcamp (live or self-study) designed for professionals aiming to become certified Rural or Community Health Coding & Billing Specialists (RH-CBS or CH-CBS).

Recommended Materials: 2025 AMA CPT, HCPCS-II, and ICD-10-CM Manuals.

This session is an essential starting point for those responsible for documentation, coding, billing, or managing these tasks—even if you've been "doing it for years without formal training."
